I believe my Uncle is taking advantage of our Grandma's illness.
Grandma is nearing 90 and has Alzheimer's.
You know, she says one thing, does one thing and then forgets.
Now, she has pension she receives as benefit
from her late husband, Grandpa.
My Uncle may seem harmless but as all things,
don't let appearances fool you.
He has not seen his wife for a decade and a half,
he keeps a woman or two on the side.
His children has not trusted him long before the drug case
and jail time, they hardly have any respect left.
At times, I pity him when he tries to do something good,
but his reputation precedes him and eventually does not live up
to what good he wanted to do.
I feel he is trying his best to take care of Grandma
while he lives with her.
But, as my occasional visits to their house gives out
a lot of evidence that his best is not the best he can actually do.
Grandma kept her house clean, but these days
with Uncle around every thing looks like a mess
- there's too much stuff in the house now,
their fridge is the dirtiest I've seen in my entire life
and empty bottles and random knick-knacks are everywhere.
I feel that Uncle is being responsible
but not responsible enough.
Now, coming back to that pension.
With all that is happening in the world and
Uncle, like I, being jobless must try hard to get income.
He's done all sorts, I believe - he peddled, applied for loans,
He's done all sorts, I believe - he peddled, applied for loans,
collected borrowed money - only, of course,
with his own on-going loans and expenses
and let's not forget his 'hobby', whatever money he gets
goes away instantly.
In the past 2 years, the ATM card for the pension
was nowhere to be found because Grandma misplaced it.
Just yesterday Grandma, upon the behest of Uncle,
went to the bank for a replacement of the ATM card.
I know it doesn't seem out of the ordinary
- but we were in community quarantine -
senior citizens and minors were not allowed.
There is a fatal virus going around.
He risked the life of his own mother.
Anyhow, what am I saying?
I may be just assuming things.
I may be just assuming things.
